Avalanche’s Top 25 SEO / SEM Blogs – Week 2
October 24, 2006
No big changes this week, though I became aware that I missed Justilien’s blog. He creeps into the ones to watch at the expense of the blog Search Engine War. At the bottom of the rankings are notes explaining the criteria for ranking (goes beyond pure Alexa rankings). If you know of a SEO or SEM blog that I missed, please add it to the comments.

The SEO and SEM Blog Selection Criteria
- Inclusion – somewhat subjective, since some blogs cover a variety of subject matter. Basically, we’re looking for the proponderance of the posts to be about SEO/SEM-related matters, regular posts, and a reader base that actively comments (promotes some discussion/controversy)
- Distortion – Since our rankings are based purely on their Alexa rankings, we must note that some sites have tools, forums, etc. that may boost their Alexa rankings beyond the traffic coming for blog posts. We looked at Alexa’s “Where do people go on domain.com” for those subdomains where possible and made a judgement call. After all, building useful content to draw repeat traffic is a key of successful SEM so it is often difficult to separate what makes a brand popular.
